Holistic Disciplines

Through ancient practices and mindful movements, holistic disciplines guide us towards a sense of serenity that encompasses every aspect of our being.

The term ‘holistic’ derives from ‘holism’, which is defined as a philosophical concept based on the idea that a living being should always be regarded as a unified whole. Holistic disciplines are all those disciplines founded on the principle of a holistic view of the universe, nature, humankind and human life. At the heart of the holistic principle lies the vision of non-duality, of wholeness, of unity, which sees humankind as a direct projection of the universe in all its parts. The universe is seen as a macrocosm in relation to the human being, who is seen as a microcosm. Man is a microcosm that reflects the laws of the macrocosm; the human being lives immersed in universal energy, and is himself made of universal energy and manifests himself through universal energy.
Holistic disciplines originated with humankind, thanks to its ceaseless quest for self-knowledge. They have existed since ancient times and have developed with distinctive characteristics specific to each people around the world. The most widespread are Ayurvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Tibetan Medicine and Traditional Shamanic Medicine, from which various disciplines have subsequently derived, such as Naturopathy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Yoga, massage practices, energy practices, etc.

All these disciplines, although using different terminology, always uphold the single, unique and ancient original holistic philosophy. These disciplines view the human being in their entirety, in their totality and in their intimate, essential unity; the human being is a unity of mind, body and spirit; health is the harmony and balance between all the components of the human being and the environment surrounding them. These and many others are the basic principles according to which all Holistic Disciplines work for the well-being and health of the individual. Those who practise Holistic Disciplines, understanding the laws of the universe, nature and the human being, promote the natural
and intrinsic self-regulatory capacities that the body possesses, in order to foster the
total well-being of the individual. The Lakshmi Centre is one of the island’s most specialised centres in Holistic Disciplines, thanks to its expert practitioners and the wide range of treatments it offers to its customers.

Holistic Disciplines

Sound massage

Sound Massage is a treatment that uses ancient musical instruments; the vibrations they emit, channelled by the practitioner, help to rebalance all the body’s physiological processes. Shamanic drums, Tibetan bells, quartz crystal bells, gongs, tuning forks, vocal sounds and other instruments from various holistic traditions are typically used. This type of treatment is a true inner journey that helps restore a deep sense of balance and harmony.

Crystal therapy

Crystal therapy harnesses the properties of crystals to promote a sense of well-being. This treatment uses pure crystals, quartz, gemstones and any other stone or mineral with properties capable of purifying a person’s stagnant and congested energies, restoring the body’s energy balance and promoting physical and mental well-being.

Shamanic ceremonies

Shamanic ceremonies are a collection of practices from shamanic traditions, usually conducted in group sessions. These ceremonies allow us to connect with the sacred,
with the divine within each of us; they reconnect us with our true Primordial Nature, possess an enormous power of inner transformation, allow forgotten psychic states and innate, unexpressed potentials to emerge, enable us to re-establish that strong bond with nature, and greatly expand our self-awareness.

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient discipline whose origins lie in Hindu spiritual philosophy. It is based on the principle that a deep understanding of the world comes through awareness of one’s own mind and body, which are two sides of the same coin. The practice of yoga involves a series of static and dynamic physical techniques, breathing exercises, and mental techniques for concentration, contemplation and meditation. Yoga can be practised in individual or group sessions. It gently teaches you to listen deeply to yourself, enabling you to achieve real benefits for your body, mind and spirit.
